Halo

Halo is a book written by Alexandra Adornetto.

It tells the story of an angel, Bethany and her two older siblings, Ivy and Gabriel. They are informed of a dark force in the area and are sent down from heaven to Earth to restore balance. Being Bethany’s first time on Earth, she is confused and not sure of what to do, she ends up falling in love with Xavier, a mere human (which is forbidden by the Gods). A new transfer called Jake Thorn comes along and wrecks everything; her relationship with Xavier, her status to the Gods, and disturbs their initial mission. Could he be from the dark side?

The bottom line is it’s a very amusing story to read, rich with raw details, just how I like books. It’s passionate and addictive and I couldn’t put the book down. I’m actually searching for the sequel “Hades” at the moment. I recommend it for anyone 12 years and over.

5/5 stars for this awesome book.

A Legendary Movie

I Am Legend, an amazing movie about Robert Neville being the last person on Earth. Released in 2007, Directed by Francis Lawrence and Starring Will Smith.

A frightening yet awesome story about a man who tries to invent a cure for a plague. Years after the plague kills everyone on Earth, the sole survivor, Robert Neville, conducts many experiments for a cure and struggles to survive as the last man on Earth. The disease kills humans, and turns the rest into monsters who come out at night and spread the disease. Every night, he stays locked inside his house alone, praying to find a cure and find out what happened to his wife and baby daughter. Will he cure the monsters? Time will tell.

The movie did scare me a little when the monsters came to life, but it’s heart-breaking to see the father taken away from his family and trying to save the world and bring back humanity on his own. The end, when he finds another human being and discovers the cure just makes you feel so uplifted and happy.

I rate the movie 3.5/5 stars:

The End of a Sensational World

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part II is the last part/sequel in the Harry Potter series. Many people were anticipating it, many people were dreading the end, but all good things must come to an end. The Harry Potter series was one of the most popular movie/book series, making the author (J.K Rowling) richer than the queen! What an imagination she must have!

Now, the movie was released in 2011, not too long ago, and directed by David Yates. It stars Daniel Radcliffe as Harry, and Emma Watson and Rupert Grint as his two best friends Hermione and Ron who accompany him throughout his whole journey.

In an effort to destroy his arch-nemesis Voldemort once and for all, Harry, Ron and Hermione must search for his remaining horcruxes in order for him to be killed. Many families are parted and many friends are lost as they must devise plans, think smart, and camp out to defeat and keep safe from Voldemort and his army of Death Eaters. This would’ve been their final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, but they leave the school to keep the rest safe. In the end, will truth prevail? And will love overpower all evil? You’ll have to watch it to find out.

I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, the amount of suspense and different emotions in the movie sent me in bursts of laughter, tears, fright, and every other emotion you could ever imagine. There were heartbreaking moments, for example, when I thought Harry died. But in the end, when he grows up and has his kids who he sends to Hogwarts, is  the happiest moment of the movie.

I rate 5/5 stars. I’d give it 6 if I could!

A Magical Fantasy

Posted on

The Chronicles of Narnia- The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe is the first sequel in a series that tells the story of 4 kids who rule a magical world, called Narnia.

Directed by Andrew Adamson and released in 2005. It stars Georgie Henley as Lucy, Skandar Keynes as Edmund, William Mosely as Peter and Anna Popplewell as Susan. It describes the story of 4 siblings who have to move to their relatives’ house due to a war. This has caused them to be torn up and breaks their family bond. One day the youngest of the 4, Lucy, accidentally stumbles upon the other realm of Narnia at the back of a wardrobe. As she drags the other 3 into the world, they learn of their destiny, which is to fight the White Witch and free the land with the help and guidance of a mystical lion, Aslan.

I believe the family bond and the lengths the children would go to save eachother really reminds you of the value of family. When they end up ruling Narnia was such a joyful part, but when Aslan supposedly “died” my heart broke. A few bits of the movie were scary but it’s suitable for the teenage age group.

I rate the movie 4/5 stars.

If you like the trailer and the movie, you should definitely check out the sequels! It’s fun watching them age throughout the series.

Without a Doubt..Fire

Mrs DoubtFire is a movie created in 1993, directed by Chris Columbus.

Starring Robin Williams as Daniel Hillard and Sally Field as Miranda Hillard, it tells the story of a father of three kids who’s always in between jobs. After a bitter divorce, eager to see his wife and kids again, he disguises himself as a lady “Mrs Euphegenia Doubtfire” to be their new nanny. He was chosen straight away and the kids and wife adored his/”her” caring touch and loving advice. In an attempt to get closer to his kids, and work everything out with his wife (who is now dating a successful rich man), trouble sparks when the children find out who Mrs Doubtfire really is, and try their best to keep it a secret.

I think it’s a great movie, awesome to watch as a family. I really love the message it portrays, to never give up on those who are close to you. It’s absolutely hilarious when Daniel has to disguise himself as a lady, and a man falls for her! It’s overall a cute movie and I give it 3.5/5 stars.

Public Nuisance or Harmless fun?

The Janoskians- a group of five young men becoming viral all over the internet. The boys, Beau, Jai, Luke, James and Daniel go around Melbourne with wacky ideas and dares to provide us with entertainment.

It all started 8 months ago,  in November 2011, when the three Brooks brothers, Beau, Jai and Luke started to film ‘mockumentaries’ and their hit video ‘Awkward Train Situations’ when their two friends James and Daniel (also known as ‘Skip’) decided to join the fun. They also have another channel called ‘Dare Sundays’ where they perform the most out there dares you can ever think of, and trust me, it takes guts!

Their videos include things like pegging, the ‘invisible rope’, dare videos, awkward train and elevator situations and much more. At times, they have even collaborated with youtube sensation ‘Teddy’ to make dare videos and such. They claim that they never meant to harm anyone but just want to give people out there  a laugh. Since they started making videos, they’ve been on A Current Affair, The Couch, Sunrise, and I’m sure on many others.

I’m sure they’ve put a smile on many faces, and not just Australians; they’re becoming famous all around the world!

They’ve recently gotten a new manager and they’ve stated that they’re working on a new project, but they haven’t given us any clues yet… I’m so excited!

They definitely make the funniest videos I’ve ever seen on the web. Check out this video of them dancing behind strangers at the shopping centre without the people realising:

Hilarious aye?

I give them a 10/10 for never failing to make me laugh each time! Check out the rest of their videos.
